The Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products and Energy Information (Amendment) Regulations 2026

What do the amended regulations do?

These amended regulations update the Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products Regulations 2010 to do two main things:

  1. Continues to recognise CE-marked energy-related products under the EU's new ecodesign framework, avoiding the need for additional UKCA marking in Great Britain
  2. Fixes errors in the Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products and Energy Information (Household Tumble Dryers) Regulations 2026.

Key changes

1 – Continues to recognise CE-marked energy-related products under the EU's new ecodesign framework

The EU has introduced a new framework for setting ecodesign standards, known as the ‘Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulations’ (ESPR).

Great Britain allows many products carrying the EU’s CE mark to be sold in Great Britain without needing a separate UK UKCA mark, provided they meet GB ecodesign requirements.

These regulations extend the CE mark recognition to apply to products that comply with the new ESPR, allowing them to continue to be sold in Great Britain without additional UK certification.

2 – Fix errors in the Tumble Dryers Regulations

The regulations fix a number of technical errors in the Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products and Energy Information (Household Tumble Dryers) Regulations 2026 to ensure the regulations work as originally intended. They do not introduce any new policy requirements for tumble dryers.
