A simple guide to Site Waste Management Plans

A Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP) is a useful tool for managing waste on site. Although SWMPs are now generally considered to be good practice, they may be required for BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) assessments or by the local planning authority.

A SWMP will help you manage your materials more effectively and could help you to reduce the amount of waste you produce and save you money.

This simple guide will help you create an effective SWMP, whether it is requested by your client or planning authority, or you just want to follow industry good practice.

Follow the steps to prepare your plan and put it into practice. Once you have developed your plan, you can use the checklist in part three of this guide to make sure you've covered all areas.
