On the 24 June 2021 the Draft Climate Change Bill for Northern Ireland was agreed by the Executive.

The Bill has a strong focus on greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets and puts in place a legal regime and basis for Northern Ireland policy-makers and decision makers to build upon. You can read the detailed context set out in the Discussion Document    

The findings of the analysis of the responses to the consultation, which ran from the 8th December 2020 to the 1st February 2021 are outlined in this summary report. The findings have helped inform the development of an Executive Climate Change Bill which was introduced to the Northern Ireland Assembly on the 5th July 2021 and which is currently undergoing legislative passage.
