I think I might have COVID-19, what should I do with used tissues and other waste that could be contaminated with the virus?

To protect any-one who might come into contact with the waste, for example council waste staff or passers-by, you should double bag tissues etc. and leave for 72 hours (3 days) before putting them out for collection.

For 3 days before your waste collection day, put tissues into a bag, and then put these bags into a separate bin bag that doesn’t go out with the rest of your waste. Once your bin has been emptied, put this bag in for the next collection.

The virus can stay active for up to 3 days so protect neighbours and waste collectors by following these guidelines.
