The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) through the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA), have produced a leaflet publication to raise awareness about this untapped resource. This aims to provide an overview to help readers understand the role groundwater plays in Northern Ireland, why it’s important to protect it and advice on how to find out more.  The leaflet is available at:

https://www.daera-ni.gov.uk/publications/groundwater-northern-ireland

If you have a groundwater supply (for example a borehole or spring) and importantly want to benefit from regular water quality sampling please get in touch by emailing LGWinfo@daera-ni.gov.uk  The NIEA are expanding its Groundwater Monitoring Network and need your help to provide long term sample locations to support our understanding, research and monitoring of groundwater quality and levels in Northern Ireland.
