The Ecodesign for Energy-related Products and Energy Information Regulations 2021

The Regulations provide requirements for certain energy-related products that are placed on the market in Great Britain.

Ecodesign requirements

The Regulations update existing Ecodesign requirements, to increase the minimum energy performance and set material efficiency, of:

  • Electric motors
  • Household washing machines/washer-dryers
  • Household dishwashers
  • Household refrigeration
  • Electronic displays

The regulations also, for the first time, set minimum energy performance and material efficiency (repair, re-use and recovery) standards for:

  • Welding equipment
  • Commercial refrigeration

Energy labelling requirements

The Regulations add to the existing energy labelling requirements for energy related products, by introducing energy labelling requirements for commercial refrigeration. Enabling consumers to identify the most energy efficient products on the market.

The regulations came into force on 01 July 2021.
